Description
Note that the number in brackets in the auction title is simply our personal inventory number for this auction.NOTE: I had this thin section made more than twenty years ago and its been sitting around in a box all that time. After a bunch of moves (Including twice moving countries) I have lost the information on some of them. As a result I am selling this as an unclassified NWA. It might have gotten classified and named or be something special but I dont remember what it was. But it was cut from a meteorite found in the the Sahara desert. Look over image for more information.
A thin section is a thin
slice
of a rock that is glued to a glass microscope
slide. There are standard thicknesses but the thickness most commonly used for meteorites is 30 microns in thickness (Like this one) - thin enough that you can see through it. It often brings out nice chondrules and/or other features of the meteorite.
This is a standard size microscope slide which is roughly 4.5 x 2.5cm.
Combining lots to save on postage would be fine.
