Up for sale from my collection is t
his 7.78 gram Sebkha El Melah 001 meteorite.
This Aubrite meteorite was was found in Mali in March of 2022.  It is quite unique in appearance and composition and is one strange looking meteorite.  It does not look like any other meteorite known, made almost entirely of enstatite (98%) - a mineral common to the early stages of crystalline silicate formations in space.  The meteorite consists primarily of large well-formed interlocking enstatite crystal with a pegmatitic (cluster) texture.  Many individual examples show distinct cleavage planes and small scattered diopside(?) grains. This example is noteworthy with a relatively LARGE (6mm x 3.5mm) diopside(?) crystal/s.
A new theory proposed by a French scientific team suggests the possibility of a link between the aubrite and the planet Mercury.
